Text in the picture

It spelled the words right and added a coffee cup of its own

Our neon-sign prompt asked for "OPEN LATE" in cursive with a smaller line underneath, and nothing about a cup. GPT Image 2.5 spelled both lines correctly in a real script, drew a glowing neon coffee cup beside them, and set the headline as "Open Late" instead of the capitals we wrote. It reads as a better sign than the one we asked for, and it is also a reminder to check small details when the prompt is exact. GPT Image 2 kept the capitals and added no cup.

A grey studio backdrop and a navy blazer, in 36 seconds

For the blazer prompt it kept the face, the hair and the expression and produced a clean grey studio look. This was the fastest GPT Image 2.5 run we saw: 36 seconds, against 58 to 64 for most of the others.

A warm watercolor that fills the frame

The watercolor prompt came back warm and yellowish, with the room still visible behind the face and the paint running right to the edges of the picture. If you want a white paper border around the painting, say so in the prompt.

A vivid sunrise with the sun in the frame

The paper boat prompt gave a saturated golden sunrise with the sun at the top right, a red boat in the middle of the pond and reeds in the foreground. Next to the GPT Image 2 version it is a similar look with a different composition.

The weak spot

Style changes on a portrait flatten the face

Like GPT Image 2, it gave the Studio Ghibli prompt an even, flat orange skin tone and a painted green and yellow background. The likeness is weaker than from Nano Banana 2.1 or Nano Banana Pro on the same portrait.

Tips for better GPT Image 2.5 results

Check the small details. It changed our "OPEN LATE" to "Open Late" and added a coffee cup. Say "keep the capitals, no extra icons" when the text is exact.

Use 3:2, 2:3 or 21:9. GPT Image 2.5 offers them and GPT Image 2 does not.

Keep portrait restyles on Nano Banana 2.1 or Pro, where the person stayed recognisable.

When to pick GPT Image 2.5

Both GPT Image models gave us correct spelling, a bold sunlit look and a weaker likeness on a heavy portrait style change. The practical differences: 2.5 offers nine aspect ratios against six, it was quicker on two of six runs, and it takes liberties with exact wording more readily.

If neither fits: Nano Banana 2.1 is cheaper and keeps portraits recognisable; Seedream 5.0 Pro keeps a headshot closest to the original.
